We are excited to share the success of the recent event, “Robust and Effective Sustainability Certification for Bio-based Systems – BiobasedCert cluster co-creation,” which took place on December 11, 2023.

The online co-creation event was organized with our sister projects HARMONITOR and SUSTCERT4BIOBASED, with which we form the cluster BiobasedCert.

The 2 hours and 30 minutes event was aimed at presenting and highlighting the features of the Joint Monitoring System (JMS) that is currently under development.
In particular, the cluster presented the JMS and its three different levels: System (design and implementation of the scheme capturing robustness of Certification Schemes and Labels-CSLs), Content (indicators of sustainability principles covering sustainability pillars), and Outcome (identify indicators that capture data on effectiveness of CSLs).

Moreover, a collaborative platform for sustainability schemes and labels was introduced to participants: its goal is to help certification schemes to interact, exchange and cooperate, based on the results produced by our cluster.

The platform is founded on three pillars:

  1. communication of results;
  2. roundtable for CSLs and CBs to use results of projects to discuss with members;
  3. additional elements to discuss selected results from different project activities and present them to wider audience.

After the presentation of each topic, BiobasedCert members have proposed participants polls through Mentimeter, to collect feedback and opinion on the points discussed.

Despite being held virtually, the event brought together a diverse group of stakeholders and experts, fostering meaningful discussions and collaborative efforts.
We are delighted to report that the event received positive feedback, with participants actively engaged throughout its duration. This set the stage for continued advancements in the joint work of the STAR4BBS project and its sister projects.

A heartfelt thank you to all participants for contributing to the success of this co-creation workshop!
Stay tuned for more exciting updates as we collectively shape the future of sustainability certification in bio-based systems!
